About The Sisu Project
Creating moments that demand growth and, in turn, inspire others.
The Sisu Project creates events that challenge people to step outside their comfort zone and discover what they’re capable of. Our name comes from the Finnish word sisu: the determination to keep going when things get hard.
Together with our sponsors and volunteers, we create the opportunity. The people who show up give it meaning.
At the Sisu Backyard Ultra at Lake Rebecca, we’ve watched runners push their limits while encouraging one another. We’ve also heard spectators and volunteers say, “I want to try this.” That’s why we do it.
We celebrate every personal best, but we also care about what happens afterward: someone going for their first run, entering a race, or finally taking on a challenge they’ve been putting off.
Our hope is that every person who takes part leaves with a little more belief in what they can do. And that someone watching finds the courage to try something of their own.
